For our anniversary (14 years!) we decided to head to Mexico. A little beach town called Puerto Peñasco (also known as Rocky Point) is only about three hours from Phoenix. From our house to the border was about two hours, then from the border to Rocky Point was about one hour.
The border. Heading into Mexico, they don't stop you. Just make sure to drive SLOOOOWWW as you cross and into the border town. MPH changes to KPH and the posted speed limit is super slow. They are just waiting to pull over Americans. After that we drove through a lot of desert and a few tiny towns.
Rocky Point! Some interesting things to see.
We met up with my brother and his family, who also live in AZ. We ate at Pollo Lucas, which was AMAZING. We ate there twice this weekend!
We stayed at an Airbnb house about one block from the beach. My brother's family stayed in one part of the house, and Jon and I stayed in the other. It was perfect!
Ahhhhhhh yeah.
The water was WARM. We loved it.
I got used to this pretty quick. :)
We spent some time in the city itself, just walking around the shops.
We ate at this fancy seafood place. When we went inside, they kept saying, "Welcome home." It was a little weird. Now it's a running joke.
A few people came in selling items or wanting to sing for money. This guy was awesome.
Seriously, this food was amazing. I can still taste it in my dreams. It was like a simmered salsa on top of fish.
A little bit of ice cream.
We watched the sunset in the city center.
More beach time!
For lunch we ate here.
And back home again!! We can't wait to go back!
