Our hostel in Quito was ok. There are tons in the city, as many students come to stay to study Spanish or do service trips. We didn't see much of the city, but we did drive by the downtown area. The city is very large and feels more American than the rest of Ecuador. Driving around takes forever!
We spent the morning driving north to Otavalo. We saw lots of little houses with corn fields on the way.
Otavalo is where many of the indigenous Ecuadorian Indians live. The little guy on the sign is wearing the traditional dress of the people.
Otavalo is known for its markets. Rows like this go on forever.
They had much to choose from, including clothing, blankets, little trinkets, and more.
The food market is very interesting and very large. We ate lunch for $1 a plate at this little area. The big was divine!

The potatoes were very small and round.
To use the phone in Ecuador, you must go to one of these little booths they have all over the cities.
We drove outside of Otavalo to a nearby city where one of Jon's mission companion's was from. The street to his house was cobblestone and very, very remote. Here are some Ecuadorian cows.
Many fences in Ecuador had broken glass on the top to keep people from climbing over.
For dinner in Quito, we ate at a Chinese place. The owners were arguing in Chinese the whole time. It was pretty good food.
The next morning we flew out of Quito and said goodbye to Ecuador!! It was a wonderful trip, and we hope to go back again soon. Although it was nice to land on U.S. soil and see Dallin again.
