Yucatan, Mexico - Day 4

Day 4: Boat tour on the Ria de Celestun to visit the flamingos and mangroves. Quick stop at the Merida LDS Temple, another lovely evening in Merida.

We were ready to embark, except the tour van wouldn't start. Without a flinch we hopped out and flagged down someone to jump us and we were on our way.

BOAT TOUR - RIA DE CELESTUN

We hopped on a boat to ride down the river to see the flamingos. It was great fun!

Certain times of year, the flamingos are in this spot getting shrimp to eat. We rode ride up to them and they looked at us, sometimes flew around, but mostly stayed where they were.

So pretty!

We rode along and all of a sudden, the boat driver took a sharp turn into the magroves. It was SO COOL!

There was a stop for us to get out and walk around a boardwalk. There were so many cool birds and critters and plants.

For some reason, these two jumped in the water. Even though a tiny croc was just a few feet away.

Next came lunch on the beach. Our tour guide picked the best places to eat.

MERIDA TEMPLE

Back to Merida, and a quick stop to see the temple.

EVENING IN MERIDA

Dinner and ice cream (dairy free for me).

Walking around town and shopping. Mom made a new friend who helped her pick out a dress.
